国際セミナー「クインテッセンス」 International Seminar "Quintessence"
年間をとおして月2回程度、金曜日の午後に、さまざまな分野の若手研究者を中心として毎回一名が英語で研究発表（約30分）を行ない、参加者をまじえた和やかだが手強い質疑（約30分）をとおして、国際舞台において英語で明晰な発表をし、厳しい質疑にしっかりと応えられるスキルを実践的に学ぶ機会を提供します。
About twice a month during the academic year, one emerging scholar or postgraduate student presents a 30-minute research paper followed by a rigorous Q&A session of another 30 minutes. This seminar series provides a supportive atmosphere for early-career scholars to cultivate presentation skills, learn to engage cross-disciplinary audiences, and practice responding on the fly to challenging questions.

若手中堅の研究者向け国際セミナー「クインテッセンス」の主目的は、国際的な研究活動を展開するために必要な実践的なスキルを身につけることにあります。本プログラムは、たんなる研究発表・聴講の場としてではなく、英語での研究発表および質疑応答をおこなう高度なスキルを磨き、国際的な学術コミュニケーション能力を体系的に強化するトレーニング・プログラムとして設計されています。
Our international seminar “Quintessence” helps early-career scholars acquire practical skills necessary for the development of their global career. More than the presentation of research, it is designed as a systematic training program to improve communication capacities for international academic environments.
本セミナーを通したスキル習得は、「スクール・オヴ・エクセレンス」や「英文校閲ワークショップ」などの専門的なプログラムへと直結し、最終的には「アカデミック・プレスウィーク」などを通じた英文研究図書の出版に至るまで、参加者のキャリア形成を一貫してサポートする段階的なスキームの中核をなします。
The skills acquired in this seminar will form the core of a gradual scheme, which is composed of specialized programs such as “School of Excellence” (SoE), “English Revision Workshop” (ERW), and “Academic Press Week” (APW) all to support emerging scholars in their career development.
希望者は、本スキームの理念を理解し、自身の専門分野外のテーマを含む機会にも積極的に参画し、多様な課題に取り組むことが求められます。本セミナーは事前登録制で、プログラムは原則として対面形式で実施されます。参加を希望される方は、英文にて3000語程度の原稿（読み原稿）を提出して、サインアップしてください（cgas[at]e.u-tokyo.ac.jp)。
Those who wish to sign up for this seminar are required to: 1) understand its mission; 2) actively participate in its sessions, even outside of their own fields; and 3) undertake various assignments.
