アカデミック・プレスウィーク2025を開催！
CGAS主催では2回目となるアカデミック・プレスウィークが、11月6日から8日にかけて開催されました。6日（木）には、一橋大学の横江良祐准教授による、博士論文の執筆から著作出版、常勤職の獲得までの体験にもとづいた講演をお聞きしました。
The 2025 Academic Press Week (APW), organized by CGAS for the second time, was held from Thursday, November 6 to Saturday, November 8. We kicked off with a public lecture by Dr. Ryosuke Yokoe, associate professor from Hitotsubashi University, who shared his experiences writing his PhD dissertation, publishing his first book in English, and obtaining his tenured position.
講演につづいて、ゲスト編集者を交えたパネル・ディスカッションを行いました。ゲスト編集者の方々も体験に満ちた知見を提供してくださいました。
Following Dr. Yokoe’s keynote, we had a panel discussion with our guest editors, Chris Harrison and Joe Ng from Cambridge University Press and William Achauer and Juno Kawakami from Springer. They all kindly provided us with a wealth of professional knowledge and expertise.
最終日の8日（土）の午前中には、木曜日に講演をされた横江良祐さんの著作『20世紀イギリスにおけるアルコールと肝硬変』Alcohol and Liver Cirrhosis in Twentieth-Century Britain (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023) を出版するために実際に書かれたブックプロポーザルをたたき台にして、どうしたら理想的なブック・プロポーザルが書けるのか、注意するべき点はどういったものなのか、といったことを具体的に学べるワークショップを開催ました。ほかでは知ることのできない最重要の知見が多く含まれている議論となったと思います。
On the final day we organized a workshop called “Book Proposal Clinic.” We studied an actual book proposal written by Dr. Yokoe for the publication of his book Alcohol and Liver Cirrhosis in Twentieth-Century Britain (Palgrave Macmillan, 2023). Through this workshop, we learned practical ways to optimize our book proposals and aspects that deserve special attention. Full of important insights, this discussion is a must-see for anyone with a book in the pipeline!
また7日（金）には午前2時間、午後2時間の枠で、ケンブリッジ大学出版（2名）とシュプリンガー出版（2名）の編集者の方々と、9名の参加者による合計16の個別面談が行われました。さらに8日（土）の午後には、5名の参加者による合計8つの個別面談がつづけられました。2日間では、14名による24の個別面談が行われました。
As for Day 2, it was dedicated to individual consultations with 9 participants, for whom 16 consultations were conducted with our guest editors. The following afternoon, we continued with 8 more individual consultations for 5 more participants. During the 2 days, we had 14 participants and 24 individual consultations in total.
