「ゲスト・コメンテーターとして参加していた Evan Haefeli 教授（TexasA&M）が “No such thing as a stupid question” のようなことを仰っていたことが印象深い。報告後の議論が停滞した時の発言だったが、日頃の自研究室におけるゼミでも内容が稚拙だったり的外れだったりすることを恐れて発言を控えてしまう私にとっては、はっとさせられる言葉だった。実際、議論で出された質問はどれも知識をひけらかすものではなく、報告者の研究を深めるものや他者の研究に対する純粋な好奇心から発せられるもので、高い専門性をもつ聴衆たちが面白い研究に対して貪欲に知識を得ようとする空間は居心地が良かった。」（京都大学大学院文学研究科 修士２年　熊谷光里、国際セミナー「越境する歴史」に参加して）

"Prof. Evan Haefeli from Texts A&M as a guest commentator said, 'No such a thing as a stupid question,' when our Q&A session stalled a bit after a presentation. Since I often tend to stay silent for fear of positing irrelevant or not well-considered questions, it was a 'eureka' moment for me. Indeed all questions discussed there were not posited to show off their knowledge but led us to further meditations or were stimulated by pure curiosity. Every listener with high specialization was eager to gain new knowledge from the interesting research of others. That space was very comfortable to me."
